Shead and Nicholson started out in 1967 when Des Shead and Kerry Nicholson finished their Electrical apprenticeships and decided to go into business together. The company started working in the backyard of Kerry’s home with both their wives, Glenese Nicholson and Jan Shead looking after the bookwork for the first two years of business.
Early on, most of their time was absorbed with domestic wiring, eventually moving into repairs of pumps and motor rewinding. With business steadily growing, in 1972 Kerry and Des hired their first assistant and moved to a more spacious premises building the shop at 2 Forester Street, where the company still trades from today.
On the 1st of April 2009, after 42 year in business, Des and Kerry retired appointing Phill Gale as General Manager.
Shead and Nicholson has grown to now employ 19, including administration and sales staff. As well as giving numerous apprentice electricians their start in the industry.
Since opening, Shead and Nicholson has grown to be one of the largest Electrical Contracting companies in the area and the longest running in Forbes.
